#IWSG The Voices, the Voices! #writing #ILoveWriting

Feeling insecure? Need support? Join us for the Insecure Writers Support Group, created by Alex Cavanaugh   and co-hosted by   Julie Flanders,   Murees Dupé,   Dolorah at Book Lover,   Christine Rains,  and  Heather Gardner!   If you're like me, sometimes the negative voices get you down. Here's a helpful post  for writing: Five Negative Voices and How to Shush Them. A more positive voice: I love writing--I really do! Let me specify, though, that I love FICTION writing. The past two weeks I've slaved over writing a psychology book chapter for a textbook, and it was hell . No wonder I gravitate more toward therapy than research. One small consolation is that writing five fiction novels has improved my academic writing, too. I'm almost done with my sixth book ACED (Blocked #2), yahoo!  76000 / 80000 words. 95% done with Aced! I'm hoping for a November or December release, depending on the editing timeli...

Cover Reveal: Entwined by @CherieColyer

ENTWINED  an Embrace Series Novel by Cherie Colyer Synopsis: Only a few months after embracing her magical powers, defeating a dark witch, and banishing a faerie prince back to his realm, sixteen-year-old Madison Riley is back in book three of the Embrace series—and doing the bidding of a demon. She has no choice but to do so if she wants him to honor the deal they made to save the life of someone she loves. Twenty years of service to a creature of hell is a big price, but one she’s willing to pay. And it sure beats the alternative: selling her soul. But life gets complicated when you’re the beck-and-call witch of a crossroad demon. Caden, the demon she serves, wants to become master of Death Himself, and with Madison at his side he has the means to do it.     It’s up to Madison and her coven to foil his plans, but Caden’s intentions aren't entirely evil—and the kisses he seals his deals with aren’t too bad either. As Caden's motives ...

Charity Anthology: Rise Up Volume Two

Help out a book blogger by purchasing this anthology! “We all know how fragile life is, especially when faced with a life threatening illness.” ~Nic, Flirty and Dirty Book Blog. Fiction introduced us. Reality binds us together. Stephanie Thomas — co-founder of The Indie Bookshelf — has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma. Stephanie isn’t only a blogger; she’s a loving wife, and mother to three young boys. In the independent author community, we have an extraordinary network of fellow authors, and readers. A special group of people who bridge this gap—helping authors connect with readers—is book bloggers. These men and women dedicate hours upon hours to reading and reviewing our works, and spreading the word to help us reach new readers. Now, one of these women needs our help. 100% of the proceeds of the Rise Up anthology (volumes one and two) will go directly to Stephanie and her family to help them on this unexpected leg of their journ...

On Best Behavior Excerpt

The release of On Best Behavior is less than one month away! *jumps up and down* Here's a glimpse of what's inside--an excerpt from Chapter 5: "Con Tequila". Lurching awake on the sofa, Sophie scanned the darkened apartment. All was quiet except for the rasp of her breaths as she tried to orient herself. Then there was the noise that must have stirred her from sleep—a scratching at the door. She heard a slight clink of metal, the crunch of a key jamming into the lock, and harsh cursing from the hallway. Was a Barberi thug trying to break into the apartment? She was fully awake now. Soundlessly she crept toward the front door, halting at the clang of keys dropping on the hallway carpet. More swearing ensued, and her heart leaped to her throat. She was almost to the peephole when a soft chuckle floated through the door. Relief flooded her. She’d recognize that sound anywhere. Yanking open the door, she had to look down to find Grant crouching at h...

Men & Women of the Military Giveaway Hop

Thanks to Vanessa from The Jeep Diva for hosting the Men & Women of the Military Hop. I LOVE men in the military! I have to confess I've written stories about men in the US Navy simply because they look so damn hot in uniform. *blushes* Shallow, right? Okay, it's also true that I really admire their sacrifice in keeping us safe. I'm also fascinated by the complete obedience required to serve in the military. All three of my romantic suspense novels feature a military influence. The hero of With Good Behavior and Bad Behavior is Grant Madsen, former Navy lieutenant. Unfortunately his Mafia family interfered with him serving his country for very long, but he still calls everyone "Ma'am" and "Sir" hee hee. Leo Scott--the hero of Young Adult swimming romance Streamline --seems like the perfect midshipman for the Naval Academy. But perfection is hard to achieve. I'm giving away ebooks featuring these hot men in uniform! To enter, co...
