Deleted Scene: On Best Behavior

Only four more days until release day of On Best Behavior ! It's exciting to finish my first series. Earlier I posted the first part of a scene that we cut in the editing process. Here's part two of Sophie and Grant in the church, planning their wedding: “You know what I was thinking about during our little moment of silence?” Grant asked. Sophie shook her head. “Well, I imagined you in your wedding dress, at the end of the aisle.” He gestured toward the altar. “I’m standing right there waiting for you, fidgeting with the flower on my lapel, and when I see you, you look so stunning. Radiant and exquisite.” She glanced at the entrance of the sanctuary and then back at him. “Mmm, I can see it too. You’re standing by Pastor Tom, looking so McSailoricious in a tux. I want to tear down the aisle, run into your arms.” He continued the little fantasy. “You try to run, but…your father, he slows you down. He walks you to me—” he flinched as if watching a horror flick “—but then

Author Dawn Pendleton!

It's wonderful to have Dawn Pendleton on the blog today. She has organized the New Adult Authors Fall Promo and I truly appreciate all her hard work. Dawn Pendleton is a new adult author currently residing in New England with her husband and their pup, though she has immediate plans to move to Georgia and promptly become a Southern Belle. When she isn't staring at a blank page, willing the words to jump from her head to the screen, she's usually playing on her iPhone, reading a book, or taking pictures with her fancy camera (which she has no idea how to use). Her newest release, the first novella in the Best Friends Forever Series, was an idea that occurred to her back in February, when she first started writing. She wasn't at a place where she could write them, though, so she started her Broken Series, instead. Through this past Summer, the BFF series emerged in her head, taking more space until she finally had to let them out. Liar, Liar, the first episode in

On Best Behavior Deleted Scene

On Best Behavior releases in one week: September 24, 2013! Make sure you enter the Goodreads giveaway *points to the right* My awesome editor Jessica Royer Ocken always helps me tighten the story, which included deleting this scene from the first chapter. Sophie and Grant have stopped by the church to plan their nuptials. I'll be back with part two of the scene on Friday. Enjoy! Tom smiled. “You two already act like a married couple, so I’m sure you’ll be just fine. Stop by and talk to Betty on the way out. You can check the calendar for this summer, and schedule our next meeting.” “Thank you, Pastor Tom.” Sophie stood. Grant followed suit. “Thank you, sir.” Ten minutes later they headed out of the church. When they passed by the sanctuary, Sophie halted. “Let’s take a peek.” Grant followed her into the spacious rectangular hall with vaulted ceilings. Morning light streamed in through the long windows lining the walls, illuminating the beige paint and pine woo

New Adult Author Jade Eby

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who fell in love with books. Then she grew up to write her own. Jade has participated in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) six times and enjoys copious amounts of coffee. When she's not writing, she enjoys trashy reality T.V. and reading everything she can get her hands on. Mommy to two dogs and two naughty kitties, she feels like she might be on her way to having a zoo. You can find her on almost every social networking site that aids in her procrastination. Nothing stays hidden forever. Kara Pierce has held onto the same dream since she was a little girl: to be the next Katie Couric. Vince Gage, a budding filmmaker whose I-don't-give-a-shit attitude cancels out his char,. almost ruined it for her once, and now he's back, threatening to do it again. When the two of them are paired together for a college competition with a $20,000 prize, the only thing they agree on is winning. They return to Iow

#IWSG: Critique Partners

Congratulations, Alex Cavanaugh ! Your brainchild Insecure Writers Support Group celebrates its two year anniversary today, and I'm happy to be part of the group. Today I want to discuss critique partners , and I have many questions for you. Do you have a critique partner? Several? How does it work for you? (What's the structure? Has it helped you? What do you wish you'd known when you started?) A good friend and I agreed to be critique partners, and I want to learn from the collective wisdom of this group about how to make this relationship work best. When I started writing, I posted stories online, and the feedback made me eager to get the next chapter out there. Now that I'm writing novels, my motivation has waned. I'm hoping that having an encouraging friend waiting for the next chapter will help inspire me to write more frequently. ~*~ In other news, my next novel On Best Behavior (The Con duct Series #3) launches 9-24-13. In celebration, my pub

September is for SEQUELS Giveaway Hop

Thanks to Lisa Loves Literature and Kathy I Am A Reader for hosting this hop celebrating SEQUELS. Are you a huge series fan like me? I love when subsequent books are even better than the first book in the series. Here are some of my favorite sequels: Unlawful Contact (the I-Team #3) by Pamela Clare. An escaped convict who kidnaps his high school girlfriend to save his sister's life? Awesome plot and swoon-worthy hero. Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood #3) by J.R. Ward. I'm not a vampire fangurl but I do love a wounded hero like Zsadist. And the sequel I can't WAIT to read is Losing Hop e by Colleen Hoover. Hopeless was brilliant and I want to read Holder's POV. I have a sequel of my own launching 9-24-13: On Best Behavior (The Con duct Series #3). I want YOU to win the Advanced Reader Copy! With Good Behavior (The Con duct Series #1) starts the mayhem of a convict love story, and I'm also giving away its sequel Bad Behavior (The Con du
