RETURN TO POUGHKEEPSIE Release!

My kooky-to-the-max pub sister DEBRA ANASTASIA is back with the sequel to her smash-hit Poughkeepsie: Return to Poughkeepsie.

Beckett Taylor is a murderer. His calling, his craft are destruction and intimidation—whether he wants it that way now or not. He left Poughkeepsie to keep his brothers safe, to keep Eve safe. Set up with happy lives to live, they’re better off without him, right?

But all his willpower crumbles when he hears his brother Blake’s frantic voice on the phone. An unknown enemy has moved in on his old territory, and Livia’s been taken. In an instant, Beckett knows it will take an attack only he and Eve can execute to bring her back. All his self-imposed embargoes are torn to shreds, perhaps along with the new man he’s struggled to become.

“Brother, call Eve. I’ll be there soon.”

In this emotional and action-packed sequel to Poughkeepsie, Debra Anastasia conjures a tale of love at its most raw and ragged. With Beckett and Eve, how could we expect anything less? But even w…

ADRIENNE JAMES: New Adult Author

The Mythology department at prestigious Harvard University is tiny—and Mackenzie Duncan has just been selected as one of the lucky few. Her love for myths and legends is strong, but she never thought any of it could be real.

After being attacked by a large wolf while walking home alone, Mackenzie realizes something is not right. She heals quickly, is suddenly super strong, and is experiencing mood swings that can't possibly be normal. The myths she's studying aren't myths at all. Werewolves are real and she's one of them. Fear of what she is, and who she might hurt sends Mackenzie running from the life she’s worked hard to build–and straight into the arms of a handsome Were named Geoff and into the home of his pack. Living with her new pack takes the edge off her confusion and self-loathing, but the arrival of new pack members changes the dynamic, and tests Geoff and Mackenzie’s growing relationship.

The hardest part of being a werewolf is having no control and no memo…

New Adult Sleepover Weekend #NASW

It was a blast attending the New Adult Sleepover Weekend 12/6 - 12/8 in Savannah, Georgia.

For those of you unfamiliar with the genre of "New Adult", it refers to novels with characters ages 17-27. And it often includes some smokin' hot romance!

I brought copies of my NA swimming romance Streamline, and met some fabulous authors and readers.

I'd chatted with author RL Griffin online and read her intriguing novel By a Thread, so it was a pleasure to join her for the Suspense panel (my first author panel). We had a good diversity of genres represented, and my favorite comment was RL drawling, "Y'all, Streamline had so much drama it was like a Lifetime movie!"

RL Griffin, Jennifer Lane, SM Boyce, Dawn Robertson
Then came the book signing, where I celebrated my Navy novel:
Cap'n Lane
Saturday evening capped off with a pajama party. Here I am in my robe with the super friendly author Kelsey Ketch:

The best part of Savannah was seeing my sister Susan, who lives …

MARA VALDERRAN: New Adult Author

Seventeen-year-old Zelene doesn't believe in magic or prophecies. When she's told she is part of the prophecy foretelling five powerful girls bringing peace to the war-torn worlds, she scoffs. The idea of other dimensions layered on top of the world she lives in is almost as ludicrous as the idea that she might be able to save them. After she is attacked by magic-wielding assassins, she finds she can't argue with reality.

As their enemies strike, the girls are taken back to their world and discover the ties binding them together. Rhaya has always had an uncanny knack for reading people, but can’t seem to unravel the mystery tying her to Isauria, the new friend she bonded with instantly. For years, Isauria has been dreaming of Terrena, a girl living her life on the run in a magical world ripped apart by the tragedies of war, completely unaware that she is psychically linked to the world she was born in.

Zelene views them all with a distrustful eye, familial bonds or no, and…

Best of 2013 #Giveaway Hop

It's time for the Best of 2013 Giveaway Hop, hosted by Mary from Book Hounds and Kathy from I Am a Reader.

One of my favorite reads of 2013 is Fix You by Beck Anderson. Stick around for my review, interview with the author, and generous giveaway!
Fix You by Beck Anderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fixated on This Story!

How does a woman move on after the death of her husband? Having two adorable sons and supportive parents helps. But what really does the trick is falling in love with a humble movie star who needs some fixing of his own.

So goes the romance of Kelly and Andrew, who meet when Kelly breaks down sobbing on a run. Andrew's in town for a film shoot, and he feels sad to learn it's the two year anniversary of Kelly's husband's death. They gradually get to know each other. Can a famous actor and a down-to-earth widow make this long distance relationship work? It'll be tough, given Kelly's lovable neuroticism, Andrew's shady past, and initial exchange…

KaSONNDRA LEIGH: New Adult Author

“The Prelude is the part of a song that pulls you in, hypnotizing you with beauty.”

After finishing design school six months ago, Erin Angelo left her tragic past behind in the States and started a new life in Milan, Italy. Burying the grief, silencing her demons, and living a life without any real attachments has worked well for her so far. But when Erin secures her first real job as a budding clothing designer, her controlled world is shaken to its core by the mysteriously sexy director of the local symphony.

Alek Dostov is a man who knows what he wants and how to get it. He's successful, hot, the son of a millionaire, and women all over the world flock to see one of his performances. For Alek, Erin represents the ultimate challenge: sexy, smart, and unaffected by his charms...or so she thinks. Just like Erin, Alek avoids attachments that leave him emotionally vulnerable. But unlike Erin, his pursuit of all things pleasurable is ruthless.

Knowing how wary they both are concerning…

Inspiration in Strange Places

Hey, fellow writers! *waves*

My main insecurity this month is my book sales. Two words: They suck. ;-)

Hope you published authors out there are doing better!

But I am enjoying writing my current work-in-progress: a New Adult volleyball romance titled Blocked

I have fun finding inspiration in strange places, like my volleyball board on Pinterest. I'm proud that I worked this quote into my novel:

Where do you find random inspiration?
I'm not sure if any IWSGers will attend the New Adult Sleepover Weekend December 6-8 in Savannah, Georgia, but I WILL BE THERE! I'm super stoked to party with authors and readers.
