Book Club

I’ve been a part of a book club for about nine years now. We’ve all been through a lot together, and my friends in the club are thrilled for me about getting a novel published. We already have one published author in our midst—a dietitian Sally Kuzemchak who co-wrote Flat Belly Diet! Family Cookbook and countless magazine articles. At our meeting last month we were talking a little about With Good Behavior, and Colby asked me how I came up with the idea for the book. I mentioned that Sophie’s storyline was an exploration of a personal horror story; a career “what-if?” that might result in total destruction. Following up on my response, Patty asked me if I worry that I’ll slip up and have sex with my male clients! We all started laughing. I insisted, “I have excellent boundaries with my clients!” I think the potential horror story is more about the idea of unwittingly getting involved with an unscrupulous person, in an attempt to help him or her, and losing everything as a result. The possibility of something like that happening to me is very frightening. However, if a consolation prize was falling in love with the dashing Grant Madsen, I guess it wouldn’t be too bad. *winks*

hmm... I think we all know women who choose men because they feel 'sorry' for them; think that they can 'help' them or change them... Never a good idea!!

So true. Maybe we women should work on changing ourselves instead of changing our men!

...and accept the things we cannot change! ;)
