Genre Favorites Blogfest

That kooky author Alex Cavanaugh is at it again, hosting a fun blogfest HERE.

Genre Favorites Blogfest, September 17, 2012
One blogfest, four favorites!
List your favorite genre of:
Movie
Music
Books
And a guilty pleasure genre from any of the three categories!

Okay, here goes:
1) My favorite MOVIE genre is...

DRAMA/ROMANCE

Titanic is my favorite movie (quit laughing!) and here's a deleted kissing scene from the epic ship flick:

I also love The Shawshank Redemption, Speed, Godfather II, Terminator II, American Beauty, Gladiator, Die Hard, Moonstruck, Working Girl, A Fish Called Wanda, Grand Canyon, Prince of Tides, Ordinary People, and so many more.

2) Favorite MUSIC genre:

MAINSTREAM ALTERNATIVE

Now that's an oxymoron! What I mean is that I love music that's "alternative" but not too far out there.

My favorite song is With or Without You by U2.

Gah. What a beautiful, sorrowful song. Other artists I love are The Fray, Jack Johnson, Colbie Callait, Indigo Girls, John Mayer, Adele, Snow Patrol, and The Script.

3) Now, BOOKS! My favorite genre is...

ROMANTIC SUSPENSE

...which isn't a surprise if you know what books I like to write. I adore author Pamela Clare, and I also enjoy fiction and YA contemporary.

4) Finally onto my GUILTY PLEASURE...

NEIL DIAMOND!

I love singing along to his songs, and there are SCADS of good ones like "Forever in Blue Jeans":

Thank you Alex for this fun hop!

Shawshank is a great film. The ending makes me cry every single time.

Titanic - the part that got me most in that movies was when the elderly couple climb into their bed and await the wave

Hahhahaha - Neil Diamond. That is awesome. My daughter is OBSESSED with Titanic. Did you see it when it was re-released to the big screen?
Good choice for music. And I liked Titanic.
Thanks for participating in my blogfest!
I have an autographed poster of TITANIC on my wall where I can see it upon getting up in the morning. I love the music. Thanks for the deleted kiss scene. Neil Diamond is great to listen to, by the way! :-)

Kyra, Neil Diamond rocks! My sister saw him in concert and she said it was the best concert she's attended.

Donna, there are several hankie-worthy moments in Shawshank. What a beautiful movie.

Baygirl, my oldest sister said the exact same thing about Titanic! I'm not married so that scene didn't stand out to me as much as Jack and Rose in the water at the end. Gah!

Jeremy, tell your wife you're not alone in your Neil Diamond love. ;-)

Nicki, for sure I saw Titanic 3-D. I didn't think Titanic was really the best movie to turn into 3-D, but I loved it all the same. Jack Dawson even gets a shout-out in my WIP.

Alex, thank you for another clever blogfest! When will your next one be? I'm in.

Roland, I was glad I found that scene on youtube--I hadn't known it existed. Good to hear Titanic is one of your friendship movie posters on your wall.

I like alternative music too. And Titanic is epic.

I'm a new follower!

Nothing guilty about loving Neil. And you zeroed in on some great movies, too.

U2! Awesome!!! Those guys are amazing. Thanks for sharing.

I seriously loved every choice you listed and almost all your examples. I know you have a ton of followers, but you gained one more with this list. :)

Wow, that's a fun deleted scene!!! Very cool. But I'll stick to watching Terminator. LOL!!!! :) Great post!! :)

Emily, thank you! I'm following you back.

LD, seems like there's a lot of love for Neil out there. Girl, you'll be a woman, too!
Jennifer Lane said…
Hey Jenn, my one regret is not getting to see U2 in concert. I hope they tour again!

Tamara, good to know we're n sync! ;-)

Shawshank Redemption is one of my all-time favorite movies.

Too funny, I also listed Neil Diamond. He's my hubby's favorite, so I've learned to appreciate him indirectly. ;-)

Such a fun blogrest today. I'm #173.

Lynn, the Terminator series is incredible but I liked II better than I because Terminator I had some really cheesy music. I think it was one chord on the synthesizer played over and over!
Jennifer Lane said…
Tia, hopping over to check you out now! That's great we're "in tune" with Neil Diamond!

We have a lot in common. I do love Neil's voice and own a Christmas CD of his (which my hubby hates), but I don't think I'd be able to sing along with any of his songs. Now Barry Manilow, on the other hand...

Now that was a steamy kissing scene. :D why on earth did that get deleted! Thanks for sharing and Shawshank is a great film! Love that one too.

Titanic and Shawshank are two of my favorites of all time. Great choices!

OOOH! I love Neil Diamond's music. I guess it comes from growing up with it because both my parents are fans. :-)
Working Girl was the first film I ever saw at the cinema. I love U2 - the first lines of With or Without You always make me tingle. I've never been a fan of Neil Diamond though - I saw a televised concert (or 10 mins of it) and had to turn over because the song he was singing wouldn't end!

Hi, Jennifer,
Romantic suspense is good stuff and I love Neil Diamond. His voice and music are extra-ordinary. I think I need a YouTube fix. ;)

I've never seen Titanic--I keep meaning to get around to watching it sometime, just to find out what people are talking about.

Hi, Jennifer. I write horror, but loved Titanic and frequently can be caught listening to Mr. Diamond as well. Great choices!
