Welcome to the Life is a Beach Giveaway Hop, sponsored by The Kids Did It and The Mommy Island.
I'm so stoked for summer, my favorite season. I'm visiting my sister near Hilton Head, South Carolina soon, and we will definitely hit the beach.
Want a beach read recommendation? Check out my college volleyball romance series starting with Blocked, or my swimming military murder mystery Streamline, set in Pensacola, Florida.

My favorite beach is Lanikai on Oahu in Hawaii
What immediately came to mind on Day One of this giveaway hop-- and I haven't thought of anything to write about "instead"-- is the beach at Nice, France.
This was many years ago. It wasn't so much the beach per se, but rather the water. I don't think I'll ever forget that experience; I ~hope~ to never forget it!
I'd been living out of a car for several weeks with a fellow traveler, and things were very, very tense and stressful. One day as I was walking down to the water, I bought a couple of cheap kids' water/flotation toys. I'm not much for swimming (or for the beach in general, to be honest), but I went out as far as I could without passing the Swim Zone barrier. And I just... floated. I just drifted there, weightless. That feeling... it was incredible. And yet at the same time, it was such an intense ~absence~ of feeling. Of thought; of worry; of self, even. No tension. Simply nothingness. Just drifting, and being in the moment. And those colors! The color of the water.......
I don't get to travel anymore, due to $ constraints. But I'm so grateful to have been able to travel as much as I did, when I had the chance.
